Historically used as a mild sedative for its relaxing properties. Passion flower concoctions induce sleep when in high concentrations. It also soothes gastrointestinal spasms, fights inflammation, disinfects, and lowers blood pressure.
Preparation and usage:
For relaxation and treatment of insomnia, make an infusion using two grams passion flower leaves for every quarter cup of water; drink before bed or as needed. Double the concentration to sooth stomach cramps, or use this same concoction for its disinfecting properties in compresses, to rinse infected skin areas, and to alleviate hemorrhoids.
