Glandular Extracts
What is it? (physiology and clinical effects) Glandulars are extracts
from glands and various organs tissues of animals. They contain active enzymes,
minute amount of hormones, vitamins and mineral. They are absorbed by the
bloodstream and depending on type of glandular extract, support the functioning
of targeted glands in the body, including thyroid, pancreas, liver, adrenals,
and thymus.
Clinically relevant conditions: Indicated
whenever there is underfunctioning the body's glands. For example, adrenal
extracts are given during frequent and prolonged stress, to improve glucose
metabolism, and for immune support. Thyroid extracts are given an alternative to
synthetic hormones for hypothyroidism, or low thyroid output. Symptoms of
hypothyroidism include weight gain, cold intolerance, rough skin, brittle hair,
depression, joint and muscle pain, elevated cholesterol, constipation, menstrual
irregularities, and in man a loss of sex drive.

Sources: None. Most glandulars are derived from cow or sheep organs.
Risk factors and symptoms of deficiency: (who is likely
deficient) None. Used to support underfunctioning or imbalanced glands in the
body.
Recommended dosage: (how much usually taken) Use as
directed on the label of the product, although it is best to consult with your
health care practitioner. Typical adult dosage is 1 to 2 capsules 2-3 times
daily.
Contraindications:(side effects / precautions /
interactions / drug interactions) May experience digestive upset. Use
organic products only to avoid contamination.
