FOS - ( Fructo-oligosaccharides)

What is it? (physiology and clinical effects)
FOS are chains of fructose molecules that cannot be digested by the body, but act as food for the healthy bacteria (i.e. probiotc), such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bifidobacterium bifidusm.

Clinically relevant conditions:
  1. Diabetes
  2. Digestive disorders
  3. High cholesterol
