Orly was very happy. She had experienced those migraines since childhood and could not believe that it was possible to live without them.
Since then, the Glick family has been regularly checked and treated by naturopaths. When the Glicks lived in various European cities, it was always easy to connect with local natural doctors as Europe has about 70% usage of alternative medicine, as alternative medicine is widely known and respected on the continent. When the Glicks moved to Orange County, Southern California, one of the first items on the 'to do' list was to find a licensed alternative medicine provider. But it was not easy. It appeared that in the U.S., there are very few licensed alternative medicine professionals and most of their treatments are not covered by insurance in most states. After the luxury of high availability of natural doctors in Europe, it was quite a shock, such a shock that Orly decided to leave a successful career in finance and business and do what she loves and believe in - promotion of natural medicine in the United States to help more people reap the benefits from alternative medicine, as she had.
The first step was establishing the free natural medicine information portal, MedND.com, which provides vast amounts of data about natural medicine practice, including supplements, natural remedies, and updates about the latest clinical research and studies in the area of natural medicine. Through MedND.com, scores of practicing naturopaths and patients contacted Orly and told their stories. Their main messages were that there is not enough exposure to natural medicine disciplines, resulting in limited public awareness and inadequate or no insurance reimbursement in most states. The unfortunate consequence of this is that for many people, natural medicine is too expensive if they can find a licensed practitioner at all. That gave birth to the idea behind myNDonline: an easy-to-use - and affordable - platform for patients and doctors to keep close contact with each other regardless of physical distance. myNDonline website allows patients to search for natural care providers who are close to their homes and provides a tool for the latest research and studies to become available to interested audiences. MyNDonline.com: helpfully and healthfully serves the natural medicine community.
OUR STORY.
It all started back in 1995. Orly Glick, a young, ambitious and successful businesswomen working in the city of Maastricht, The Netherlands, had one little problem - constant headaches. Her doctor kept giving her strong painkillers, but it only helped to soothe the symptoms. The headaches were persistent and repeated week after week. A colleague recommended that she see a licensed alternative medicine practitioner. Always interested in natural medicine, she took the advice, thinking that it wouldn't hurt checking that option. After an hour-and-a-half of interview by the naturopathic doctor and a simple blood test, the doctor diagnosed her with glucose intolerance and pre-diabetes - a condition in which the pancreas does not react properly to sugar intake and administers insulin in abnormal quantities. This reaction causes sharp fluctuations in blood sugar level, which drives the patient to eat even more carbohydrates (sugars), causing symptoms such as tremors, extreme energy swings, and headaches. The recommendations included simple dietary changes together with very specific supplements to support her pancreas and her liver. The first few days were awful, almost like an addict going through cold-turkey withdrawal, but after two weeks the headaches were not only gone, they were gone for good.Orly was very happy. She had experienced those migraines since childhood and could not believe that it was possible to live without them.
